About an hour's drive north of Katherine is the tiny town of Pine Creek. It was a gold mining town in its day, which Nicole and I learned on our short walk up to a lookout of the old mine pit.

On check-in we were advised that our first night here coincided with a gathering of a large number of "bikies" on a long weekend annual tour to remember one of their friends who passed away a few years ago. And so they came, with loud bikes and plenty of smiles and friendliness. It made the afternoon more memorable, and we even caught up with some people we had dinner with in Katherine while enjoying a few drinks in the wonderfully relaxed and impressive Lazy Lizard Tavern.

To cap the afternoon/evening off, the owner decided to temporarily open a display of cars and motorbikes that he has obviously spent a LOT of money and time on. He hadn't planned on opening it yet as he still had some work to do but opened it up for the "bikies". All I can say is it will be even more impressive when he finishes it; what a fantastic collection of machinery in a great display space. Well done!
